Dr. P.Selvashunmugam, a Ph.D in Siddha Medicine, worked at the National Institute of Siddha, Tambaram conducted scientific workshops, re-orientation training programmes, continuing medical education programmes, medical research besides clinical experience. He has undertaken various projects, with one in collaboration with WHO. His presentation of the 'Neikuri - one of the siddha diagnostic parameters (urine examination) at the International conference on the Indian system of medicine was awarded the 'best paper' award at Chennai in 2003.
He has also been popular with the media with various magazines carrying his articles , now working on a project - 'Udambinai uruthi seyya Thirumoolar kaattum vazhigal' - under the aegis of the HIF. This is being funded by the Central Institute of Classical Tamil, Chennai.
